Situation
Microsoft Turkey, along with QNB Finansbank and Habitat Foundation strongly believes that the return of investment of technology, from production to consumption, can only be achieved by education and investment in technology’s economy. They came together in order to work hand in hand to develop Turkey’s human resources of computing .
Solution
We have brought together multiple schools, foundations and town halls to participate in «Tiny Fingers Programming the Future» project. The main aim was to develop the skills of programming and analytical thinking of children, changing their spot as a consumer of technology to a developer and to spread awareness of coding literacy. 30 cities have applied to participate as a volunteer instructor, inquiries were evaluated by form and telephone interview. A total of 300 people which included 75 volunteers from Finansbank employees trained in order to teach the coding literacy along with pedagogical formation. The trainers were given a total of 20 hours of training in 3 days.
Success
Since June 2015 until now, 203 volunteering instructors have trained 20,000 children ages between 5-12 in 30 cities with the coding literacy training. A total of 7,561,700 people were reached thanks to 68 print and 331 online press.
